Eleanor Moseman has always dreamt of far off places from home. Ever since she was a small child, she watched the world with innocence and curiosity. She has always been very empathetic towards other people and cultures - never judging but trying to understand and appreciate everyone's differences. "It's the differences in each of us that makes this world so beautiful" is something she reminds her friends in their times of frustration and hardships. She can thank her mother for instilling that belief in her.
Eleanor has been living and working (as a photographer) in Shanghai since September of 2008. Wanting to get out of the city and explore the rest of the country, she concocted a Photo/Bicycle Expedition around Asia for nearly a year. |

Americans are very fortunate to have access to affordable and often free education. If it had not been for Eleanor's
public school education, state funded education, supportive parents, and motivational mentors - she may not be
where she is today. Of course, it also helps that she was born and raised in a country when gender roles were
broken down before she was born. Her intentions are not to change other countries traditions or gender roles, but
maybe just give them an insight of what a young girl's full potential could be. We are more than just a homemaker,
wife/girlfriend, child bearer.
Also, traveling by bicycle through a country where owning and driving a car is a sign of wealth and prosperity - hopefully people will see how wondering traveling by bike can be. |

The objective of Stepping Stones is to assist students in migrant schools in Shanghai to gain interest and confidence in their English language abilities and to help them pass their middle school entrance examinations.
The mission of GEI is to expand and support educational opportunities for under served females in remote and undeveloped regions of the world.
Collaborating with and funding local, predominantly female-staffed Non-Governmental Organizations that wish to develop and implement school-building/renovation projects, scholarship programs, or other congruent educational programs. GEI promotes local ownership of programs by the established community to ensure that programs respect existing culture and values, allowing for synergy and sustainability long-term. Currently, programs are focused on the mountainous regions of the world with school-aged girls, but GEI will consider all compelling female-based educational projects consistent with our mission.
